Optimal Production Using the Online Optimizer System
In the central control room of the ethylene plant, we are using the Online Optimizer system as a flexible operation system for optimal production. We are operating this system under optimal conditions in line with the properties of the materials currently used and changes in the product market.

Oita GENBARYOKU Transformation (OGT) Activity
In order to enhance genbaryoku (on-site capabilities)* at the Oita Complex, we established the Oita GENBARYOKU Transformation (OGT) Promotion Group in August 2022.
Going beyond conventional improvement activities, the Promotion Group is leading the further enhancement of on-site capabilities through measures such as making effective use of digitalization technology and promoting examinations for co-creation between internal organizations and with external parties.
The OGT activity is intended to achieve our vision of establishing the most powerful complex in Asia, where affluence and sustainable growth are harmonized. Through this activity, we are making examinations for cross-departmental collaboration and promoting improvement activities, in which all employees participate through the small-group (circle) activities conducted by their departments.
* On-site capabilities means the ability of on-site workers to autonomously identify and solve issues based on the principle of attributing importance to the following five elements: actual place, actual thing, actual situation, basic logic and basic rules.
About the Oita GENBARYOKU Transformation activity
Accredited for Safety Inspections Based on the High Pressure Gas Safety Act of Japan
Since 2003, the Oita Complex has been continuously accredited by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry to implement safety inspections on its own as an accredited safety inspector under the High Pressure Gas Safety Act. Presently, the Oita Complex is qualified to carry out its own safety inspections to continue the operation of the facility for four consecutive years with no suspension of operations. Under the accreditation system, companies that are evaluated to be excellent in terms of operational management, equipment management and safety and disaster control are qualified by the Ministry to conduct safety inspections on their own equipment.
