On January 1, 2025, Crasus Chemical Inc. was born through the splitting off from Resonac Corporation of its petrochemical business. The name of the new company, “Crasus,” was coined by combining “cras” (meaning “tomorrow” in Latin) with the “sus” of “Sustainable” and “Sustain (daily life),” which are two of our aspirations. The petrochemical industry creates products that are indispensable to everyday life. As members of this industry, we will work to make Crasus a company that demonstrates leadership in terms of carbon neutrality and the creation of a recycling-based society and ensures harmony between the industry and the environment to contribute to the sustainable development of society.
The origins of Crasus Chemical date back to 1969, when Showa Denko’s Oita Petrochemical Complex started operation. The Complex is the only ethylene center in Kyushu. In order to make the Complex the strongest petrochemical complex in Asia, its people have been working to ensure stable operations for the delivery of products while giving their first priority to safety and striving for optimal efficiency through energy conservation, diversification of materials and other means.
Crasus Chemical will continue to be a company that is trusted by all its stakeholders, including customers, business partners, employees and local residents, and that is needed by society for its diverse products and accumulated technologies.
