Cracked Kerosene

Product Summary

Partially-cracked kerosene is a raw material for C9 petroleum resins, and is a liquid produced together with ethylene via naphtha cracking.

Characteristics

Physical properties of partially-cracked kerosene (mixture)

  • Boiling point range: 60-220ºC    Flash point: 24-34ºC    Specific gravity: 0.9-0.93 (15ºC)

Vinyltoluene

  • Boiling point: 170‒173ºC    Melting point: -77ºC
  • Vinyltoluene has three different isomers: o-vinyltoluene (1-ethenyl-2-methylbenzene), m-vinyltoluene (1-ethenyl-3-methylbenzene), and p-vinyltoluene (1-ethenyl-4-methylbenzene).
  • It is a strong reducing agent and reacts vigorously with strong oxidizing agents or strong acids. It reacts vigorously with aluminum salts.

1H-Indene

  • Boiling point: 182.6ºC    Melting point: -1.6ºC    Flash point: 49ºC
  • 1H-Indene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon with a five-membered ring that shares a double bond with a benzene ring.

Naphthalene

  • Boiling point: 218ºC    Melting point: 80.2ºC
  • Naphthalene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon made up of two benzene rings fused together.
  • It is a clear/white sublimable crystal. Azulene, an isomer of naphthalene, is a compound consisting of a fused seven- and five-membered ring.
  • Naphthalene is more susceptible to electrophilic substitution than benzene, and most of the resulting compounds are important intermediates for dyes.

Properties

Yellow liquid with an aromatic odor

Storage Conditions, etc.

Keep away from direct sunlight and store in a well-closed container in a well-ventilated, cool, dark place. Do not store the container with oxidants, organic peroxides or similar. Do not place the container near heat sources such as a boiler or combustibles. Use explosion-proof electrical equipment in the storage location and ground all equipment.
