Towards Circular Economy
Beyond achieving its own net zero emissions, Crasus Chemical is making efforts for the creation of a recycling-oriented society.
Achievement of Zero Emissions
Reduction of landfill waste
-
We have achieved “zero waste to landfill,” which means that the final rate of waste sent to landfill is 0.5% or less of the total amount of waste generated. We have done this by recycling waste acids and alkalis, using waste oil as fuel, making effective use of inorganic sludge and debris (as cement and roadbed materials), and recycling heat-insulating materials. We are implementing even more measures to further reduce landfill waste.
Creation of a “Knowledge Hub”
Through a joint venture launched by Resonac Corporation with Kyushu University’s Transdisciplinary Research and Education Center for Green Technologies, Marubeni Corporation and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, we created a “knowledge hub” in Kyushu to build a model of a recycling-oriented society. This hub is designed to serve as a forum for discussion to identify and solve issues toward the establishment of Kyushu’s first local production and local consumption process for the utilization of various wastes generated by local industries and government bodies as well as other unused resources. In order to create a decarbonized society, it is essential to chemically recycle used plastic into plastic products in addition to conducting the material recycling of such waste. Accordingly, at the knowledge hub, we will conduct design and development activities with a focus on the practical use of chemical recycling toward the creation of a decarbonized society.
