Contributing to a sustainable society as a next-generation petrochemical company
New Year’s message from the President
Management / IR
January 6, 2026
I’d like to open this message by wishing you all a happy New Year.
It has been one year since Crasus Chemical Inc. was launched. In 2025, we were busy carrying out a host of processes to establish appropriate corporate structures and functions, such as formulating our management philosophy (Purpose, Vision, Values), relocating the head office, separating from the parent company’s system in order to establish independent operations, and conducting various procedures to file and go public. We have made steady progress in achieving these tasks. Also, in the same year, we were delighted at the news that director and executive vice-president of Kyoto University Dr. Susumu Kitagawa was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Dr. Kitagawa is our joint development partner in NEDO’s Green Innovation Fund Project for the development of a low-concentration CO2 separation system using an innovative separating agent.
Now, at the start of 2026, let’s run through a list of major issues and tasks to be addressed in the new year. One is an overhaul of our ethylene cracker, which is conducted once every four years. We have two more key issues: to implement a full-scale business launch in one go while ensuring accident and injury-free operations, and to act swiftly to deal with the remaining challenges in order to be listed.
Safety and compliance must come before everything else.
Each workplace is conducting various safety activities. In this context, I ask you all to review the systems and rules established to ensure safety and strive to sharpen your awareness and attention to ensure safe behavior, even unconsciously. This is essential for developing a culture of safety. It is also important, at the same time, to develop a corporate climate based on a high standard of ethics to avoid tolerating or overlooking any compliance violations.
Vision and Values
When starting operations, the new company defined its Purpose as building “Chemistry for Tomorrow.” In 2025, the company formulated its Vision and Values in line with the Purpose by forming a team to discuss related issues. The Vision describes the position of Crasus Chemical ten years from now as a “next-generation petrochemical company building a path toward a sustainable society,” which represents our goal of becoming a green chemical company in the future. Next, we established our core values, which are shared by the entire workforce as a basis for achieving the Purpose and Vision. They are comprised of “solid integrity,” “culture of openness and encouragement,” “take on challenges to reach the ideal,” and “action and persistence.” In 2026, we will promote this philosophy across the company and encourage individual employees to embody it while engaging in their work.
Key initiatives in 2026
We will promote three key initiatives as follows:
① Profitability improvements: Conducting measures to facilitate a shift to businesses and products with high added value and increasing operational efficiency, aiming to achieve an ROIC of 10% in the future.
② Personnel policy: Formulating human resources policies and developing an appropriate organizational culture by promoting the Purpose, Vision, and Values.
③ New business creation: Ramping up activities to develop technologies and create new businesses aimed at achieving carbon neutrality.
