January 14, 2025
Crasus Chemical Inc. (President: Hirotsugu Fukuda, hereinafter "Crasus Chemical") has decided to sign a contract with Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd (hereinafter "Yulin Chemical") in China, to license Crasus Chemical’s vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) production technology. Additionally, Crasus Chemical will supply the catalysts used by Yulin Chemical for VAM production.
Crasus Chemical has been working to strengthen its business since the era of its predecessor, Olefins and Derivatives Business Unit of Resonac Corporation, by expanding high-value-added products and developing a licensing business for the organic chemical manufacturing technologies it possesses. The company has been focused on creating a business structure that generates stable and high profits. This licensing of VAM production marks the third case of such agreement, demonstrating a steady accumulation of achievements. In conjunction with this license, Yulin Chemical plans to construct a VAM production plant with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons in Shaanxi Province, China.
VAM is a colorless, transparent liquid widely used as a raw material for adhesives and synthetic resins. Crasus Chemical has been producing VAM at its Oita Complex for over 40 years. In this licensing agreement, Crasus Chemical will also provide a package that includes its accumulated operational technology and know-how for stable and safe operations of the VAM production plant.
Furthermore, Crasus Chemical will supply the catalysts used in the new VAM production facilities. Crasus Chemical possesses advanced technology in catalyst design, analysis, and performance evaluation. By using the Company's catalysts, the new plant is expected to achieve enhanced performance.
Crasus Chemical will continue strengthening the competitiveness of its Oita Complex through the enhancement of derivatives, as well as focus on expanding the company’s licensing business.
