Oita Petrochemical Complex Joint Fire Company Wins Excellence Award in the Government-hosted Firefighting Competition

Crasus Chemical Inc. (President: Hirotsugu Fukuda, hereinafter "Crasus Chemical") hereby announces that the Oita Petrochemical Complex’s joint fire company, led by Crasus Chemical, won the Excellence Award at the 2024 National Firefighting Competition hosted by the Fire and Disaster Management Agency under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC). The company took fourth place among a total of 37 participants from throughout Japan, and the award represented the first of its kind in the history of Crasus Chemical and the Resonac Group, as well as in Oita Prefecture.

This competition was launched in fiscal 2014 with the objective of increasing the skills and morale of volunteer fire companies and improving the disaster prevention capabilities of petrochemical complexes. The recent award ceremony was held on December 13, 2024, by the MIC to recognize award winners (one grand award; four excellence awards; and ten encouragement awards).

Following the ceremony, on January 7, 2025, a dezomeshiki (traditional New Year firefighting demonstration event) was held at the Oita Petrochemical Complex site, to which plant managers from all complex tenant companies were invited. The award-winning company demonstrated its performance as a way to showcase its commitment to achieving a “no accident, no injury” record as well as heightening the awareness of disaster prevention.

In response to the recent encouraging result, Crasus Chemical and the Oita Complex will ramp up efforts to ensure safe, stable, and secure plant management, improve safety awareness, and enhance safety activities.
